The Camera Centre connects kiosk and online with dakis
The Camera Centre has served the Shetland Islands since 1978. Benjamin Mullay, a working photographer, took the reins in 2011 and has steadily moved the business toward photo services. dakis is the system that ties it together, one consistent experience across the website and in-store kiosks, on this island group off the north of Scotland.

Benefits of using dakis
- A managed website built specifically for the photo industry.

Where they started
Benjamin inherited a shop running on two separate systems: the in-store kiosks and the online ordering, with every price and product needing to be entered twice.
A peer from New Zealand pointed him towards dakis, which stood out for being built specifically for the photo industry, down to integrating with lab production equipment.
Independence mattered too. He wanted to drop the brand-tied shopfront and run as a fully branded Camera Centre.
“It was two different systems, and it was just a disaster, really.”
Bringing it together

"The synergy with the kiosks and the online offering is consistent for the customers, whether they're online or in store."
Key results
The clearest gain is a single, coherent customer journey. The old website handled hardware while print orders lived on a separate site. Now one site does it all, and the shift let the Camera Centre put its services front and centre, taking print, framing, and scanning orders online.
For a shop this remote, customers find a striking offering online: prints and wall art, photo books and gifts, film processing, scanning, and restoration, the full range of a modern photo lab.
"It just takes a little research. Once they're on the website, they see all the other things we can do."
The platform also gives a small team more reach. With no dedicated marketing or accounts department, the Camera Centre leans on dakis's ready-made graphics for kiosks, banners, and promotions, tweaking them to fit rather than building from scratch.
From the far north, the Camera Centre has stayed independent and grown its services on its own terms. dakis is the system underneath it.
"It's a very clean, one-stop photo solution. It's one all-encompassing system, you don't have to migrate things from other systems and find ways to embed them."
